Happy Saturday Housing Heroes!

In September, California took a big step towards improving transparency in rental practices with the signing of Assembly Bill 2801.

This new law reshapes how security deposits must be handled, ensuring fair practices from Housing Providers. From before-and-after photo requirements to restrictions on automatic cleaning fees, there are some significant updates every landlord and tenant should know.

Here’s a quick rundown of what these changes mean for you and how to stay compliant. To make it even easier, I’ve put together a 60-second video covering all the essentials.

Just click here or tap the thumbnail below to watch! 👇

Key Highlights of This Video 👇

  • Photo Documentation: Housing Providers must take before-and-after photos to justify deposit deductions.
  • No Auto Cleaning Fees: Cleaning fees can only be charged if necessary to meet the original move-in condition.
  • Higher Penalties: Tenants can claim up to 3x the deposit amount for wrongful deductions.

Tribute to Buddy

Buddy was the beloved dog of Dave, our Director of Team Growth & Development here at Good Life. I’ve known Buddy since he was just a puppy. Unfortunately, due to illness, Dave had to say goodbye to him at 13.

Buddy loved exploring Pacific Beach and had a knack for eating anything he could find. He was a loving companion, and we all miss him terribly. This is our last photo together at home. Love you, Buddy!
